Good question, but hard to answer.
Most of engineering is about gradual improvements.
Even the big breakthroughs start with experimental things that don’t work very well, like the first cars, aeroplanes, mobile phones, computers, rockets, medical devices, robots, … and then gradually improved.
If you can guess what the next big breakthrough will be, you could become very rich! But it’s very hard to predict the future.
